GOALTENDING:  BE READY

It’s really important for goaltenders to be ready at all times – especially when the play is in the defensive zone.  A good rule is to train yourself to relax in the middle of the net (along the goal line) while the play is in the offensive zone, but as the puck moves back towards your end be ready to move out to meet the play as the puck carrier crosses the red line.  Remain in your stance at all times while the puck is in your end – always ready to make a save.  Relax again as the play moves out past the blueline.  This is true whether it is the opposition or your own team with the puck.  This will help you maintain your focus at all times and keep you well prepared for anything!
