PASSING: "Saucer Pass"

The saucer pass is used when you need to raise the puck over a defender’s stick. They key is to have the puck land flat on the ice so it can be received cleanly. Joe Sakic of the Avalanche is probably the best in the NHL at executing this pass. You can practice this by passing over a stick laid flat on the ice.
