COMMUNICATION

Talking to your teammates on the ice is the sign of a good team. Here are some examples of good communication:

  1. A defenceman calling out the read on a rush.
  2. Players talking during 'down low' coverage in your defensive zone.
  3. A forward hustling up ice to create a 3 - 2 rush lets his linemates know that he has joined the rush.
  4. A player on the bench alerting a teammate on the ice to an impending hit or an open man.

Communication on the ice means a team is focused and alert. It also lets the opposition know that they are playing a good team.
