Going to the Net

You hear coaches talk about at all the time; "Go to the net and good things will happen."

Here's the "good things."

  1. Draws Penalties

  2. Screens or distracts the goalie

  3. Forces an opposing player to cover you (possibly leaving a teammate open)

  4. You can score on a tip-in, deflection or rebound

  5. Wears down the opposition's defensemen

If you're the type of player that's willing to go to the net (with your stick on the ice) not only will "good things happen" but you'll gain the respect of your coaches and teammates.
