Goaltending Coach:

GOALTENDING: REPETITION

Ryan Miller, rookie goaltending sensation for the Buffalo Sabres, attributes much of his success to 'muscle memory' and 'instinct'. These are achieved through practice ritual and repetition. By practicing a technique over and over again, our body and mind learn to react almost automatically to given situations. For example, if you regularly practice your technique for defending against a one-timer from in close to the net, eventually you will react 'instinctively' to the same situation every time it occurs during a game. So, practice your skills continuously - you will be rewarded for all your hard work!
