WEEK 10 TIP

December 9, 2002

DOUG JARVIS
Assistant Coach
Minnesota Wild - NHL

DEFLECTIONS

When attempting to score by deflecting a shot:

1. Be intent on positioning yourself directly in front of the goalie (not off to the side).

2. Face the shooter with your back to the goalie.

3. Keep your stick free to tip the puck on either the left or right side, or between legs.

4. This is a skill that takes excellent hand-eye coordination and is a skill that should be practiced.
